Don’t Miss STL Mommy Updates On Facebook

Posted by Kim Julian on Monday, May 21st, 2012 at 1:03 pm

If you are on Facebook, you may have noticed all of the changes going on lately!  All Facebook pages, including pages you may “like” such as STL Mommy, have been moved to the timeline format. The new look makes it a little more difficult to see the daily updates clearly, so the best way to make sure you don’t miss out on any deal is to create an interest list on your side bar.

Here is what to do:

-On the left hand side of your Facebook home page, you will see the main titles “Favorites”, “Groups”, “Friends”, “Apps” and “Interests” in gray capital letters.  (If you can’t see Interests, click on the MORE link and then it should pop up.

-Under the Interests List, click on “Add Interests”.
-Click on the “Create a List” Button.

-When the box pops up, search under Pages or Subscriptions for STL Mommy

-Click on STL Mommy when you see it and then click the Next Button.
-Name your list and click the Done Button.
-Your STL Mommy List should appear now!

Thanks for the great ideas, Freebies2Deals!

The Magic House Birthday Parties

Posted by Kim Julian on Monday, May 21st, 2012 at 11:23 am

If you live in St. Louis or the surrounding area you have probably been to The Magic House, or you know about it, but did you know that The Magic House has birthday parties? I was amazed to find out that many of my friends never knew that you could have your party at The Magic House and since it’s a children’s museum that can’t be missed who wouldn’t want to have their special day at the most magical place in town.

My 8 year old decided that he wanted to have his party at The Magic House this year so we decided to go with the Science Magic party since it was the most fitting for his age group – and for a group of boys. Other party themes include: Construction Zone, Fairy Tale, Modern Art Magic, and Trains, Planes and Automobiles.

The kids loved having their own mad scientists to experiment with them, making their own cupcakes, and even getting a little messy.. BUT my favorite – and their favorite as well is that all of your guests get to play for the entire day FREE!

We were able to play before the party and then after the party all of the families dispersed among The Magic House for a ton of fun! It was unbelievable being able to give your friends the joy of an entire day with their kids and also being able to check in with them and watch the kids having a great time with their friends.

If you haven’t been to The Magic House lately you need to go..It has grown tremendously since the last time we visited and there are so many fun adventures for the kids to explore. Plus don’t forget that the 3rd Friday of every month is Family Free Night!

If you are unable to view the video above you can view it on Youtube.

This is a sponsored post all of the information above is my honest opinion.

Check Out These Book Swaps & Ways To Sell!

Posted by Kim Julian on Saturday, May 19th, 2012 at 12:35 pm

With today’s economy, people are looking for new ways to continue their favorite hobby’s without spending what they used to. When it comes to books, people are finding new ways to shop by swapping, buying and selling used books. There are many ways to sell and trade books you can even trade books for DVD’s and CD’s.

Some of the examples below are simple, but if you are selling, the easier it is to do, the less profit you make. So determine why you are selling and pinpoint which service to use.

Selling

CKY Books : CKY Books has been the easiest resource for me. Although it doesn’t pay a lot you can easily enter the ISBN’s of the books you want to sell, accept or deny the offer, print the pre-paid postage, pack and ship. That’s all you have to do and no money out of pocket with the exception of shipping supplies. CKY pays you via Paypal or Check. *Mainly Textbooks.

Cash 4 Books: Cash 4 Booksis the same concept. Enter the ISBN’s, accept or reject the offer, print postage and ship. They also send you payment via Paypal or Check.

Sell Back Your Book: This is also the same concept. They report that your payment will arrive within a week!

Half.com: Half.com is primarily for people who want to buy and sell books, music, movies, or games. You will receive more money on your books when you sell them on Half but many times it takes weeks or months. When you enter in your ISBN’s it will show you the latest price that your book has sold for which gives you an idea of how much you will make and how to price your items. Half is one of the best places to make purchases of used books because it focuses on selling these items, but it is less used than Amazon.

Amazon: Amazon is one of the most widely used selling sites on the web so it is a little easier to sell your items on Amazon if you are playing the ‘waiting game’ for purchases to be made. You also enter your ISBN’s on Amazon and it will show you the latest price so you have an idea of how much your item may sell for and how to price your items.

Trading:

Paper Back Swap: With Paper Back Swap you post 10 books and you will receive 2 free book credits. For each book you send to someone you receive another credit, (audio books) are 2 credits. Then using your credits, you can order from others. The person sending pays for postage. The selection is 3 million strong. PaperBackSwap also offers SwapACD and SwapDVD.

Book Mooch: On Book Mooch post books you own and want to give away. Each book listed gets you 1/10th of a point. Respond to a mooch request, and send your book to them. 1 point awarded, 3 points if sent to another country. After you receive a book, leave feedback for the sender and earn 1/10th of a point. It costs 1 point to receive a book unless the Mooch is in another country, then it costs 2 points.

Swap Tree: On Swap Tree list the books, CDs, DVDs, and video games that you want to get rid of and the books, CDs, DVDs and video games that you want and Swaptree does the rest. Swaptree will show you all of the items that you can receive for your items. Clicking on a “GET NOW” link next to an item will show more information about both the item and the trader you will be receiving the item from. If you decide that you want to initiate a trade for an item, then an e-mail will automatically be sent to the other parties in the transaction. If the other traders accept, the trade is completed and you will then be provided the shipping address where you need to ship your item. The ONLY way that other users can initiate trades with you is if you have items on your want list. The easiest way to get things on your want list is to search for the item that you want in their search field. Once you find the item you want, just click “want it” and that item will be placed onto your want list. *You can swap books or CD’s or DVD’s.

I hope this helps you make some money on your old items and receive some new items that you have been wanting but didn’t have the money to purchase. It’s important to make every penny count and to use your resources effectively to benefit you and help someone else.
