With todayâs economy, people are looking for new ways to continue their favorite hobbyâs without spending what they used to. When it comes to books, people are finding new ways to shop by swapping, buying and selling used books. There are many ways to sell and trade books you can even trade books for DVDâs and CDâs.
Some of the examples below are simple, but if you are selling, the easier it is to do, the less profit you make. So determine why you are selling and pinpoint which service to use.
Selling
CKY Books : CKY Books has been the easiest resource for me. Although it doesnât pay a lot you can easily enter the ISBNâs of the books you want to sell, accept or deny the offer, print the pre-paid postage, pack and ship. Thatâs all you have to do and no money out of pocket with the exception of shipping supplies. CKY pays you via Paypal or Check. *Mainly Textbooks.
Cash 4 Books: Cash 4 Booksis the same concept. Enter the ISBNâs, accept or reject the offer, print postage and ship. They also send you payment via Paypal or Check.
Sell Back Your Book: This is also the same concept. They report that your payment will arrive within a week!
Half.com: Half.com is primarily for people who want to buy and sell books, music, movies, or games. You will receive more money on your books when you sell them on Half but many times it takes weeks or months. When you enter in your ISBNâs it will show you the latest price that your book has sold for which gives you an idea of how much you will make and how to price your items. Half is one of the best places to make purchases of used books because it focuses on selling these items, but it is less used than Amazon.
Amazon: Amazon is one of the most widely used selling sites on the web so it is a little easier to sell your items on Amazon if you are playing the âwaiting gameâ for purchases to be made. You also enter your ISBNâs on Amazon and it will show you the latest price so you have an idea of how much your item may sell for and how to price your items.
Trading:
Paper Back Swap: With Paper Back Swap you post 10 books and you will receive 2 free book credits. For each book you send to someone you receive another credit, (audio books) are 2 credits. Then using your credits, you can order from others. The person sending pays for postage. The selection is 3 million strong. PaperBackSwap also offers SwapACD and SwapDVD.
Book Mooch: On Book Mooch post books you own and want to give away. Each book listed gets you 1/10th of a point. Respond to a mooch request, and send your book to them. 1 point awarded, 3 points if sent to another country. After you receive a book, leave feedback for the sender and earn 1/10th of a point. It costs 1 point to receive a book unless the Mooch is in another country, then it costs 2 points.
Swap Tree: On Swap Tree list the books, CDs, DVDs, and video games that you want to get rid of and the books, CDs, DVDs and video games that you want and Swaptree does the rest. Swaptree will show you all of the items that you can receive for your items. Clicking on a âGET NOWâ link next to an item will show more information about both the item and the trader you will be receiving the item from. If you decide that you want to initiate a trade for an item, then an e-mail will automatically be sent to the other parties in the transaction. If the other traders accept, the trade is completed and you will then be provided the shipping address where you need to ship your item. The ONLY way that other users can initiate trades with you is if you have items on your want list. The easiest way to get things on your want list is to search for the item that you want in their search field. Once you find the item you want, just click âwant itâ and that item will be placed onto your want list. *You can swap books or CDâs or DVDâs.
I hope this helps you make some money on your old items and receive some new items that you have been wanting but didnât have the money to purchase. Itâs important to make every penny count and to use your resources effectively to benefit you and help someone else.
