Do you have Unclaimed Money?

Most of you have heard of this and already checked into it but for those of you who haven’t I wanted to tell you a little about the National Association of Unclaimed Money Administrators.

In 2006 it was projected that a total of at least $32.877 billion is currently being safeguarded by state treasurers and other agencies for 117 million accounts.

Last year I looked into this for myself, husband, and family. I of course didn’t have any unclaimed funds but my husband had $60.00, Mother had $120.00, Father had $140.00 and my Grandmother had a total of $3.00.

Most of the money was lost during moves. My husbands was an old electric bill from college and my parents unclaimed funds were from our move from Illinois to Missouri when I was 9. It’s amazing that the money sat there for over 20 years but the money is not given away it just sits and waits for someone to claim it.

Go to Unclaimed.org click on the state or states that you or your family have lived and it will take you to the Treasurers department for that state. All you have to do is then enter your name into the database to see if there are funds waiting for you. It did take 90 days to collect the funds from the time that I sent in the information but believe me the $60.00 we received was like a present in the mailbox!

I hope you find something!
